Kennels or home boarding? An honest comparison
Kennels are not cruel, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. Good kennels are clean, licensed and staffed by people who care. What they cannot easily offer is a household.
For a confident, sociable dog who enjoys noise and routine, kennels are often perfectly fine. For an anxious dog, a senior dog, or a dog who has never slept anywhere but your bedroom, the difference between a run and a rug is considerable.
Cost is closer than people assume. Once you add extra walks, individual feeding and enrichment sessions to a kennel booking, the gap narrows to a few pounds a night.
Our advice, honestly: visit both. Ask about staffing overnight, ask how many dogs share a space, and watch how the dogs already there are behaving.
